Robyn Boersma
Instructor
My name is Robyn Boersma. I am a retired police officer. During my Law Enforcement career, I enjoyed a multitude of assignments and experiences. I enjoyed teaching defensive tactics, arrest and control procedures, baton techniques, CPR and First Aide, and worked on a wonderful project known as Crime Free. My favorite part of my job during my career was that of a Hostage Negotiator. After I retired, my husband and I moved to the tranquility of the beautiful desert! I have always loved fitness and wellness, so when I retired from Law Enforcement, I became an ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor and taught Boot Camp, Cardio Combat, Circuit Training, Tabata and Stretch Classes. After so many years of wearing thirty plus pounds around my waist, getting in an out of patrol cars, and physical activities associated with the job, I suffered many injuries. Because of the corrective exercise techniques and healing properties of Pilates, I decided to try Pilates. After just a few sessions, I was hooked and I knew I wanted to focus on Pilates and help other people see results and feel better than ever. As Joseph Pilates once said, "Physical fitness can neither be achieved by wishful thinking, nor outright purchase.” I have noticed changes in my body, mind and spirit, through daily Pilates workouts and I know anyone and everyone that makes Pilates practice a part of their life will also see noticeable changes and feel better. Pilates is also a perfect supplemental exercise regimen for men and women involved in other sports, including but not limited to golf, tennis, pickle ball, triathlons and so many others! When I am not working out or teaching classes, I enjoy spending time with my husband, David, and our three dogs, Whiskey, Harley, and Gizmo. In our free time, we enjoy fine dining and a delicious glass of Cabernet. We occasionally try to play tourist and experience all that the desert community has to offer. We also love to travel, especially on cruises!
